12-15 February 2009/ Vilnius Book Fair

The catchphrase of the fair is “Circulation – three million!” Vilnius Book Fair – the largest book fair in the Baltic countries and one of the main culture events in Lithuania – will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2009. Vilnius Book Fair and Baltic Book Fair in 2009 will be devoted to Lithuania’s special events – “Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009” project and Lithuania’s name millennium. Greater focus will be placed on Lithuanian history and its historic neighbours Belarus, Poland and the Ukraine. All three countries will have their stands at the fair to present their publications. About 250 fair participants from 10 countries will settle in three exhibition halls. Visitors will be offered around 200 culture events, art exhibitions, meetings with foreign and Lithuanian writers and a discussion club devoted to historic discussions. Vilnius Book Fair has focused a lot on developing the young reader. Its unique annual creative studio “You can create a book” (curator - artist Sigutė Chlebinskaitė) has become a nice tradition, which expands its training programme, gains increasing popularity and receives more and more visitors.
