12 March – 30 May 2009/ International Art Exhibition “Longing for Nature. European Landscapes”
The exhibition discloses the diversity of European landscapes from different aspects: cultural traditions in the major regions on the Old Continent such as Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western and Central European countries, uniqueness of global mental representation, diversities of the geographical structure of landscape, chronological and stylistic development of the landscape genre and the originality of artists' works and their role in the context of the history of European art. Painted landscapes from the sixteenth – early twentieth centuries depict characteristic landscapes and locations from the Adriatic to the North Sea, from the British Isles to Hungarian plains.
