BNS: Lithuanian Foreign Ministry's Undersecretary to prepare for European Council with the EU colleagues in Brussels
VILNIUS, Dec 05, BNS - Lithuania's Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Zygimantas Pavilionis will meet with European Union (EU) foreign ministers next week to prepare for the upcoming European Council session, discuss energy security, climate change and Eastern Partnership issues.
The General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC) session on Monday will cover the European Commission (EC)-adopted European Economic Recovery Plan and proposed financial incentives for expedited development of power links as well as implementation of the Baltic energy link plan.
Ministers will also discuss EU expansion, revise the European Security Strategy, issues concerning the Western Balkans and other topical international policy affairs.
This GAERC session will be Pavilionis' third top-level meeting attended instead of Lithuania's Acting Foreign Minister Petras Vaitiekunas since November.
