BNS: Lithuanian PM denies finmin is in talks with IMF

VILNIUS, Apr 08, BNS - Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius has denied speculation that Finance Minister Algirdas Semeta has already begun talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over a loan to Lithuania.

"Nobody is holding talks with the IMF, because any such talks would need the green light from the government and other relevant institutions," he told reporters on Wednesday.

Kubilius said that the government's decision earlier in the day to increase the country's quota at the IMF did not mean that it intended to borrow from the fund.

"That does not show anything. If the government some day decides to approach the IMF, you will be the first to be informed," he told reporters.
