VILNIUS, Jun 02, BNS - Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus says that Lithuania's support to the academic community of the European Humanities University (EHU) contributes to closer contacts between Belarus and the European Union.

In the president's opinion, the support of Lithuania, other European nations, the United States, the Nordic Council of Ministers and the European Commission to the university in exile carries a special meaning by providing Belarus' young people studying in an EU member-state with scientific and living experience they can communicate to people back home. Adamkus said that EHU may rank among the top universities of humanities in the Eastern region by settling in Lithuania and constantly improving the quality of tuition.
