BNS: LITHUANIA'S USD 1.5 B BOND CARRIES 6.75 PCT INTEREST
VILNIUS, Oct 08, BNS - The Lithuanian government's five-year1.5-billion - US - dollar bond issue, placed on Tuesday, carries a fixed interest rate of 6.75 percent, the Financial Ministry confirmed onThursday.
"The successful bond issue shows that investors have confidence in andsupport the government's fiscal policies and the consolidation measures that we have already taken and will have to take in the future," Finance Minister Ingrida Simonyte said.
This is the biggest-ever sale of Lithuanian government bonds in foreignmarkets. The issue will mature on Jan. 15, 2015. The issue price amounts to 99.744 percent of the bonds' nominal value.According to the ministry's statement, the bonds were placed outside theUS pursuant to Regulation S under the US Securities Act of 1933. The proceeds from the bond sale will be used to finance budget expenditures, it said.
