BNS: Poland's Suwalki to name new street after Lithuania's millennium
VILNIUS, Jun 26, BNS - Council of the Polish city of Suwalki has decided to name a new street after Lithuania's Millennium. Constructed in the direction of Lithuania, the street will connect streets of Reja and Pulavski.
The decision was made earlier this week in response to requests from Lithuania's Honorary Consul in Sejny Liudvikas Milasius and the Lithuanian community of Suwalki, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said. While presenting the draft on the city name, Suwalki city President Jozef Gajevski and council chairman Vlodzimierz Marczevski stressed the importance of Suwalki cooperation with Lithuanian cities of Alytus, Druskininkai, Marijampole, Vilkaviskis and others.
In Milasius' words, celebration of Lithuania's millennium and immortalizing of the date by naming a street after it is a superb example of cooperation between Lithuanian and Polish nations, which should become a beautiful tradition.
