CHAIRMAN'S CONCLUSIONS

The representatives of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland met with the European Commission as a follow-up to the meeting in May 2010 to discuss progress towards the integration of the Baltic electricity market into the EU energy market as well as the development of the regional new nuclear power plant in Lithuania to improve the supply security of the region.

Recognising the continued progress in the creation of a common Baltic electricity market, its integration into the EU internal energy market and implementation of electricity and gas interconnection projects to Poland and Finland, the participants confirmed their commitment to implement the BEMIP in a timely and consistent manner as well as their commitment to the long-term objective of synchronous interconnection of the Baltic States with the electricity grid of Europe.

The participants reaffirmed their joint support for the implementation of the regional nuclear power plant in Lithuania to contribute to a stable and secure electricity supply in the Baltic Region and to the achievement of the long term objective of full integration of the Baltic States

The three Baltic States committed to develop and implement common policy measures concerning trading principles towards non EEA third countries.

Furthermore participants committed to the correct and timely implementation of the third internal energy market package.

Participants Agreed to meet again in six months time with a view to receiving an update on progress and to determine further actions. Finland might be invited to the next meeting.
