Creations of Modern Lithuanian Artists in the Old Town of Brussels
A small street named Charles Hanssens in the Sablon quarter of Brussels is filled up with Art nouveau houses. Everywhere on the ground floor you see private art galleries – with oil paintings, jewelries, antics, sculpture. In one of theses galleries – namely K Gallery at No 10 – creations of modern Lithuanian painters, sculptors and jewelers are to be found between 6th and 27th November. They have been brought from Vilnius by the proprietor of the Small Gallery Volanda Raupelytė, seconded by the one the best-known jewelers of Lithuania Stasas Chailovas and her daughter-in-law Ignė.
The exhibition is the outcome of the close co-operation between the Small Gallery of Vilnius and the Permanent Representation of Lithuania at the EU. In the vernissage that took lieu on 6th November last the exhibition was inaugurated by the Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the EU Ambassador Rytis Martikonis. The member of the European Parliament Vytautas Landsbergis and the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania also supported the organization of the exhibition.
