DALIA GRYBAUSKAITĖ PRESENTED LETTERS OF CREDENCE TO LITHUANIA’S AMBASSADOR TO TURKEY

President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Kęstutis Kudzmanas, Lithuanian ambassador to Turkey.

The President underlined that Turkey was Lithuania’s important partner in addressing the NATO agenda and both countries were interested in strengthening such cooperation. Turkey also played a major role on Middle East issues; therefore it was important to maintain an active dialogue with Turkey.

As regards the development of bilateral relations, the President said, it was important to deepen economic cooperation, increase the volume of trade and promote mutual investment.

Turkey is a key country the energy security of the European Union, including Lithuania, which makes it necessary to conduct an energy dialogue with it.

Kęstutis Kudzmanas is Lithuania's fifth ambassador to Turkey. He served as the Ambassador of Lithuania to Azerbaijan until 2008.
