ENERGY POLICY – ONE OF THE MAIN EU PRIORITIES
Lithuania hopes for the support of European Council while resolving energy policy issues during the Lithuanian Presidency. Energy priorities of Lithuanian Presidency were discussed during the meeting of the minister of energy Jaroslav Neverovič and Didier Seeuws, head of cabinet for the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy.
„Energy policy is one of the main Priorities of Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council. The most important issues are the creation of common European market tad external energy policy. While holding the Presidency, we hope for productive cooperation between all European institutions in order to achieve the best results“ – said J. Neverovič during the meeting.
During its Presidency Lithuania will monitor the progress made to ensure the creation of the common European energy market until 2014. Also, during the Presidency Lithuania will held the discussions and release the report on the external EU energy policy.
According J. Neverovič energy policy issues, especially the creation of common energy market are very important to the whole EU and its citizens. Therefore it is of utmost importance to stress on the common energy goals at the highest political level. D. Seeuws ensured the minister that European Council fully understands the importance of energy policy and is ready to contribute to its successful implementation .
