EU COMMISSIONER FOR ENERGY GÜNTHER OETTINGER WILL VISIT VILNIUS
On September 13–14th, Member of the European Commission responsible for energy, Mr Günther Oettinger, will visit Vilnius at the invitation of Minister of Energy, Mr Arvydas Sekmokas. The main purpose of the visit is to discuss the progress of Lithuania's integration into the European Union's energy systems and the common actions in removing the Baltic States' “energy isolation”.
During the visit, Mr G. Oettinger will also meet with President Dalia Grybauskaitė, Speaker of Seimas Irena Degutienė, representatives of Seimas Committees and Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius.
On 14th September, Commissioner will deliver a keynote speech to the audience in the regional conference “Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan: towards Integrated and Sustainable energy region” where participants from all over EU Baltic sea region will assemble. The Conference aims to evaluate the intermediate results of Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan initiated in 2009 by European Commission and discuss currently emerging new challenges in the region.
