Exposition by Eglė Micikevičiūtė at the premises of the Permanent Representation
It’s easy to notice that paintings in the exposition are painted in more then three different techniques. However it does not suggest the idea of them being painted by different artists. Not only strong colours are in common. The idea of each painting is accentuated by strokes, writing or dots depending on a theme. Portraits are painted from words and sentences spoken by the posing person. Some paintings are “knitted” from oil paint dots, others are swirling together with the character.
Variety was always Eglė’s way of life. She chose architecture for her studies because apart of projecting it included subjects such as drawing, painting, sculpture, interior design and even psychology of behaviour. While studying she also wrote articles to youth magazines and was a popular national radio show leader.
In 2001 Eglė graduated Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), she painted a lot while working as an art director and in 2004 she was selected first artist for one year residency in International Art Village Nishiaizu in Japan.
