Gruto Parkas – 4th Most Bizarre Museum in Europe

Lonely planet, one of the most popular travel guide publisher, announced the list of the most bizarre museums in the world, where Gruto Parkas in Lithuania was listed 4th most bizarre. The park, dedicated to remind the Soviet occupation period in Lithuania and sometimes called The World of Stalin, won the publishers over by black humour and irony.

Gruto Parkas, established in 2001, was appreciated over The Museum of Bad Art in the US, Hair Museum in Turkey, International Towing and Recovery Museum in the US, British Lawnmower Museum, Sulabh Museum of Toilets and Museum of Crutches in Azerbaijan. However, Gruto Parkas was overridden by Paris Sewer Museum, The Meguro Parasite Museum in Japan and Icelandic Phallological Museum.

Also, last spring Lonely Planet declared the Curonian Spit of the Lithuanian seaside as the single calmest and most hammock-friendly European beach in the world beach rating, where it took the 2nd place worldwide and was overridden only by Dahab beach in Egypt. The Curonian Spit is also in the top 10 of the best beaches in Europe.
