Join us for a Tribute Run “Road of Life and Death”
The 13th of January 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic events in Vilnius when unarmed and singing Lithuania challenged the aggression of the Soviet Union. Soviet tanks killed 14 and injured around 1000 civilians who stood tall defending the Lithuanian Parliament and the main TV tower. These defenders became the symbol of Unity of the people of Lithuania and of victory in fight for Freedom.
In commemoration of the Day of Defenders of Freedom the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU, the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Belgium and to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the NATO and the Lithuanian Community in Belgium kindly invites you to a Tribute Run “Road of Life and Death” on Saturday, the 9th of January 2016. The runners of 9k or 5k distance will symbolically join the traditional annual Tribute Run in Vilnius.
Start of the Run: 11.00. in the Parc du Cinquantenaire (Arc de Triomphe)
Finish: ~12.00 at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU (Rue Marie de Bourgogne 58) with commemorative medals given and tea served. The route maps will be distributed later.
