LITHUANIA IS LEADING IN LABOUR COSTS AND FEMALE LABOR

2010-5-21, Enterprise Lithuania, Invest Lithuania: IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2010 shows, that Lithuania got the highest positions in female labor force (No. 2), unit labor costs in the manufacturing sector (2), communication technologies’ conformity with business requirements  (3) and in number of mobile telephone subscribers (4).

“The best improvements were recorded in the current account balance, consumer price inflation and transparency of the Government policy”, - says Paulius Lukauskas, Managing Director of “Enterprise Lithuania”.

The executive opinion survey showed that the adaptability of the Government policy to economic changes is high, Government decisions are effectively implemented, and protectionism does not impair business conduct.

Lithuania is ranked 43rd out of 58 countries, beating  Slovakia (49), Slovenia (52), Bulgaria (53), and Romania (54). For the first time in decades, Singapore (1) and Hong Kong (2) have topped the US (3) in IMD’s World Competitiveness Yearbook rankings.

The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook is the world’s most renowned study comparing the competitiveness of 58 economies on the basis of over 300 criteria. The statistics presented in the Yearbook are complemented with results from an annual executive opinion survey.
