Lithuanian collages and coins as well as photographs of Belgian cities to be presented to-day at the Permanent Representation

Two artists – sculptor Antanas Žukauskas and photograph Tomas Razmus – show their works at the premises of the Permanent Representation.

Antanas Žukauskas creates monuments, sculptures, collages, coins. The sculptor was awarded with the Cross of the Knight of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas' Order for propagating Lithuanian art in the world. Since 1966, Antanas Žukauskas creates and participates in different symposia,  contests and exibitions in Lithuania and abroad; he has mounted 25 personal exibitions so far. 

More important works of the sculptor would be the memorial of fascism victims in Kaišiadoriai, monuments of the national independence rebulder Dr. Jonas Basanavičius and author of the Lithuanian anthem Vincas Kudirka in Vilkaviškis; sculptures at tha facade of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius.

The sculptor created many of the Lithuanian circulation coins as well as projects of the national side of the Lithuanian euro coins, and many coins for special occasions.

Presently, Antanas Žukauskas executes a project named Lithuanian Culture In Europe Thorugh Form, which was recognized as a state project by the Culture Ministry of Lithuania and the European Parliament.

There are collages, sculptures, sketches of Lithuania euro coins, and circulation coins to be seen at the exposition to be opened to-day at the Representation.

Tomas Razmus is a member of the Union of Lithuanian Art Photographers. Since 2003, he has been giving lectures on visual communication and digital graphics at the Institute of Culture and Art Education as well as the Social Communication Institute in Lithuania.

Presently, the artist is doing his postgraduate diploma studies of art theory and practice at the Brussels Royal Academy of Arts.

The 9th personal photography exhibition “Belgium seen by a Lithuanian” to be opened to-day at the Permanent Representation, presents 15 white/black photos. The works are performed during two years period, and show the images of Brussels, Antwerp, Leuwen, Dinant. The artist submits to the public well balanced reflections of environment, elements of architecture, and moments of social life.

Both exhibitions will stay at the Representation till 4th July next.
