M. Silkauskas at a debate in the European Parliament: disinformation does not stop at our borders
On 3 September, Mindaugas Silkauskas, Lithuania’s representative to the European Union (EU) Political and Security Committee, participated in the panel discussion ‘Democracy, public diplomacy and information integrity’ during the European Public Diplomacy Days.
At the forum, M. Silkauskas outlined the priorities of Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the EU and highlighted Lithuania’s experience in countering foreign interference and information manipulation (FIMI). “Disinformation does not stop at our borders. Democratic resilience is closely linked to internal security, the rule of law and the preservation of core European values, and will therefore be among the priority topics during Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the EU,” said M. Silkauskas.
The European Public Diplomacy Days, organised by the European Parliament, are taking place from 30 September to 2 October. The forum brings together EU institutions to share best practices and ideas for strengthening people-to-people ties and public diplomacy initiatives.
