MINISTER OF NATIONAL DEFENCE R. JUKNEVIČIENĖ WILL GO TO POLAND ON A WORK VISIT
Minister of National Defence Rasa Juknevičienė will conduct a work visit to Warsaw (Poland) on Monday where she is to meet with Defence Minister of Poland Tomasz Siemoniak.
The aim of Lithuanian Minister’s visit to Poland is to discuss bilateral defence and security cooperation of Poland and Lithuania, undergoing and newly launched projects in the context of regional and transatlantic defence.
At the meeting a range of points will be addressed – relevant issues of regional security, establishment of a joint Lithuania, Polish and Ukrainian brigade, Polish participation in the NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission. Ministers will exchange views on the NATO Summit in Chicago, international operations, discuss the possibilities of joining the activity of the Energy Security Centre for which NATO accreditation is sought.
R. Juknevičienė will also present Lithuania’s priorities during the EU Presidency period in 2013 in the defence and security context.
Lithuanian Minister’s delegation is expected to return to Lithuania on Monday evening.
