Lithuania: Europe’s leading fintech hub and digital banking pioneer (Satchel)
Lithuania has emerged as the largest fintech hub in the EU, boasting the highest number of licenses issued. With access to a massive market of over 500 million EU citizens, Lithuania has firmly established itself as a thriving center of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The European Commission has recently unveiled the results of the European Innovation Scoreboard 2024, highlighting significant strides in Lithuania’s innovation ecosystem. Over the period from 2023 to 2024, Lithuania has demonstrated the highest growth rate in the EU, with an impressive increase of 3.7 percentage points, surpassing the EU average of 0.6%. This marks the highest level of development in Lithuania’s innovation ecosystem to date, reflected by a cumulative innovation index score of 92 points.
From June 30 to July 1, Lviv hosted the international street art project, “MaLonNY. Lviv, featuring seven artists from four countries: Ray Bartkus (Lithuania-USA), Ieva Voroneckytė (Lithuania), Judy Tuwaletstiwa (USA), Jeff Woodbury (USA), Philip Grisewood (UK), Iryna Vodolazhchenko (Ukraine), and Mariia Shcherbak (Ukraine). They were assisted by volunteer art students from Lviv art schools, painting a mural on a building in a children’s playground at 12 Chernomorska Street.

Lithuania continues to demonstrate clear leadership in enhancing public digital services, marking significant year-on-year improvements, as detailed in the European Commission’s Digital Agenda 2024 Progress Report. The country has shown remarkable progress across all assessed areas.
