PROFESSOR ZYGMUNT BAUMAN AND PROFESSOR LEONIDAS DONSKIS TO DISCUSS “MORAL BLINDNESS, LIQUID MODERNITY, AND THE NEW SEARCH FOR EUROPE” AT THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
Professor Zygmunt Bauman, an eminent Polish-British sociologist, one of the greatest thinkers of our times, comes to the European Parliament for a dialogue with professor Leonidas Donskis, a Lithuanian philosopher and Member of the European Parliament, on the new global culture of fear, uncertainty and insensitivity.
Combined with theoretical and political concerns about the present and the future of the European Union, these are the main foci in their forthcoming new book Moral Blindness: The Loss of Sensitivity in Liquid Modernity (Cambridge: Polity, 2013). The role and place of Central and Eastern Europe in the political architecture of Europe, among other things, will be discussed as well.
The discussion will be followed by the documentary film on Zygmunt Bauman and his unique way of thinking and grasp of reality, The Trouble with Being Human These Days (director Bartek Dziadosz, 2012).
The event is hosted by the Member of the European Parliament professor Leonidas Donskis, the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union and the Permanent Representation of Poland to the European Union.
The event will take place on November 14, 6.30 pm, at the European Parliament, József Antall Building, Room 4 Q1, (entrance "Altiero Spinelli"), rue Wiertz 60, 1047 Brussels.
