The Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania was celebrated with a performance by the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra

Celebrating the 16th of February, the anniversary of the day of restoration of the Lithuanian State, the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra gave a spectacular concert, "Nordic Landscapes" at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. This concert was part of a solemn series of events marking the 106th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania. A round of applause greeted the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the EU, Arnoldas Pranckevičius, who delivered his congratulatory speech.

"Freedom is the word that perhaps best describes the faith, destiny, and character of our nation," said Mr. Pranckevičius. In his speech, the Ambassador mentioned and invited everyone not to forget the Ukrainians who fight for their freedom every day.

The concert programme included works by French composer Cesar Franck, Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, and Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, all splendidly performed by talented Lithuanian violinists, soloists Rasa Vosyliūtė, Eglė Venslovaitytė, and other performers. Violinist Rasa Vosyliūtė impressed the audience with her solo performance of Sibelius' Violin Concerto with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra was founded more than 20 years ago. The orchestra's conductor, Artistic Director David Navarro-Turres, is widely known for his dynamic performances, innovative programmes, and versatile artistic creativity.

The concert's special venue – the Royal Conservatory of Brussels – enhanced the Nordic feel of the concert programme. The historic Conservatory, founded in the 19th century, trains professional music and theatre artists and hosts hundreds of international events every year.

The event was organised in cooperation with the Lithuanian Cultural Institute.
