THE PRESIDENT TO MEET WITH EUROPEAN COUNCIL PRESIDENT HERMAN VAN ROMPUY
Tomorrow, February 18, at 11.30, President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė meets with President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy.
The issues to be discussed include promotion of competition, EU budget, energy security and other important EU policies.President Grybauskaitė says the establishment of a common European energy market and the construction of electricity and gas links are a prerequisite for stable economic development of the European Union and therefore welcomes the decision adopted recently by the European Council to complete this process by 2015.
The President of Lithuania and the President of the European Council will also discuss the best possible ways to implement the proposals laid out in the President Grybauskaitė's letter to the European Council President concerning greater openness of the EU to Belarusian people.
