President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė will attend an extraordinary meeting of the European Council on 11 March in Brussels convened to discuss measures to protect the recovering European economy against the potential impact of the events in North Africa.
"The events in North Africa might have a direct impact on the European and national economy. The sharp rise in oil prices triggered by the unrest in Libya poses a serious threat to our fragile economic recovery. All EU Member States must be ready to act together and coordinate their actions to minimize the potential impact on the EU economy," the President said.
